Working today for a brighter and better tomorrow — preserving and developing the Pehiāweri B1B whenua for the uri of Ngāti Hau.
Pehiāweri B1B block, located on Ngunguru Road, is a papakāinga for the uri (descendants) of Ngāti Hau. Since the early 2000s, an Ahuwhenua Trust was established, as agreed upon by the shareholders, to oversee the development and management of the block.
This trust aims to ensure sustainable and culturally appropriate use of the land for the benefit of current and future generations.

Pehiāweri B1B Block was originally part of 289 acres of Ngāti Hau land. In 1865 Te Puia Hirawani, Honi Rakiti and Riripiti Pohe sold Pehiāweri to Kake Peru, Eru, Atearea, Tame, Pirihita, Terewini and Pokaia for the sum of 3 horses, 1 cow and twenty-three pounds.
When our Tūpuna Kake Peru passed away in 1876, his whenua of fifty-six acres was succeeded by his tamariki Pirini Kake, Rewi Kake, Keremeneta Kake, Hemi Kake and Maraea Kake. In 1885 eight acres was gifted to the Anglican Church, and Pehiāweri B1B's forty-one and half acres came into being.
Pirini Kake passed away in 1903. His tamariki — Henare Kake, Kahui Kake, Mauhaere Kake, Haki Kake, Wiremu Kake, Perepe Kake and Toki Kake — succeeded to Pehiāweri B1B whenua. We began our journey over 700 years ago with Tūpuna Hautakowera, and that is why our work within Pehiāweri Marae, B2 and B1B provides many voices for all descendants of our Tūpuna.
